Pascal Jr

Our new boar, Pascal Jr, is adjusting nicely to his new home. He's already been with Zsa Zsa so maybe we will have piglets by Memorial Day. #mangalitsa #oldworldpigs

For sale

Pip's little bucklings are growing fast and the two buckskin ones are still available. Magi is brown eyed and disbudded and Mitzvah is blue eyed and naturally polled. They were born December 23rd and will be available for pickup in about 3 weeks! Remember, goats are herd animals and stress on their own so we won't sell just one unless you already have goats or other herd animals like llamas or donkeys that they can hang out with. #nigeriandwarf #kiddingseason

Roger's lucky weekend

Both Jesse and Ms Kay were tail wagging and love talking this morning and Roger is putting on his best moves. These girls will be due June 19th if all goes according to plan.#nigeriandwarf

Clean up crew

A turkey vulture hangs out above the ranch looking for a scrap of food.

Ivory

Old Harley's ivory. Just goes to show, no matter how friendly your hogs are you should always have an exit strategy when you are in working with them. #mangalitsa #oldworldpigs

Injury time out

Poor Jones was rounding sheep off the fence and nearly poked his eye out. He has a small wound on the bridge of his nose and his right eye is nearly swollen shut. I laid him down and put an ice pack on him and he's stayed that way for a half hour already. Such a good patient.

He acts like nothing happened but we need our superdog 100‰ so will probably go get him some antibiotics in the morning. #bordercollies #ranchhand

Afternoon Stroll

We took all the girls out for a walk this afternoon.  They love all the delicious shrubbery we find along the way.  It has me thinking of dropping some chicory and comfrey seeds about for a fun spring surprise.

Home Sweet Home

Mr. Cellophane aka Smelly Celly got home safe and sound. His first order of business is a hoof trim and CDT vaccine. What a nice boy!  #nigeriandwarf #ranchlife

New buck

Meet Mr. Cellophane. We've been looking for a second Nigie buck and may have talked our instructor to let this handsome fella go home with us. His line has some of pholia's best dairy qualities but he's a little too closely related for them to use him as much as they'd like.

Making cheese!

Free Range

We put the sheep in the lower pasture yesterday but the two lambs haven't learned to stay in the fence so they and their moms spent the day free-ranging the back 40. Good thing we had Jones to fetch 'em up at the end of the day. #stcroixsheep #freerange
