Buster

After the sad news of little Glory this morning we were ready for a pick-me-up, and it came when the vet said that Mike did a great job of splinting "Buster's" leg last night and he should heal up just fine. He's dragging his new cast around like a Louisville slugger and sporting some cool new horn scars to boot. #fearless #mininubian

Clarice's Kids

Clarice kidding this afternoon.  She had 2 beautiful blue eyed boys. Clarice is quite small and had been struggling with her large pregnancy belly for weeks. We had suspected that she might kid earlier than her due date of July 13th, but didn't quite expect her to kid this soon.  Her babies were fully formed and of decent size for being premature, but they are a little slow to take to the teat.  We have to keep a bit of an eye on these guys and Clarice to make sure they are all getting good nutrition and are staying strong.

kiowa blackberries

sometime back our neighbor gave us her kiowa berry canes.  she didn't want them anymore, as the thorns were a hazard she no longer wanted to navigate.  we planted them this winter and it appears we will have a nice harvest this year.  the berries are huge and sweet. we are eating them right off the bush a they ripen...delicious!

Daisy

The other day we spotted Daisy limping.  When I got closer to her, i could see that she had a big gash in her leg.  When we caught her, we could see that she had indeed caught her leg on something and had a large cut just below the joint.  She had to be cleaned up, stitched up (20 stitches), and wrapped up.  Just a few days later and she is walking without a limp, healthy and happy.  We moved her into the nursery...and had to make space for her mama (Millie) because both were inconsolable when they were separated.  The bond is so tight, it is amazing.
